May 30, 2023 –┬áTheresa Rappaport, Interim Superintendent of The Excel Center since January 2023, has been named our new Superintendent!

Theresa joined The Excel Center in 2015 as the PEIMS Coordinator, then quickly took on additional duties for special education and became Assistant Superintendent of Administration and Programs in 2018. Before joining Excel, her passion for education and helping others led her from Kansas to Texas in 2007 to serve two years as an AmeriCorps volunteer. She entered the world of education with this experience, where she served in roles ranging from special education to school finance. In 2010, she served as a Hogg Foundation Mental Health Policy Fellow for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Texas.

She earned a BA in Social Work from St. Edward’s University and an MA in Educational Administration from Lamar University. She holds multiple teaching and administrative certifications from the Texas State Board of Education, including Principal EC-12 and Special Education. Theresa believes in the value of service and is an active member of the Junior League of Austin.

The Goodwill Education Board determined that Theresa was the best person to serve as the next Superintendent because of her extensive knowledge and experience with Excel and her more than ten years working in education and charter school administration.

Rob Neville, Excel Center School Board President and CEO of Goodwill Central Texas said, “Theresa has continued her excellent leadership at the school during the interim, and we’re thrilled to have her take on the role officially. She is a tireless champion of the mission of The Goodwill Excel Center, and we know many more lives will be transformed under her leadership.”
